A glimpse into the Naked Edge

This year’s guest speaker is Lynn Anderson, Joe Kennedy and other special guests.  They will be discussing the Naked Edge.

The Naked Edge is one of the most classic rock climbs in North America.  Since its first ascent in the 1960s, and first free ascent in 1971, this notoriously tricky route has drawn climbers in from around the world. Join us for a discussion about the Naked Edge and its history. From its beginnings as a groundbreaking free climb to its current status as a test-piece and speed climbing racetrack, the characters and climbers of Eldorado Canyon have written a history of the route that is extreme, obsessed, and often times a bit odd. Races for speed, costumed climbing, and more than a few free solo & fully naked ascents.  The route has held a special place in the hearts of many climbers for many decades. Where did it all begin? Why on earth would people climb this route 300+ times? What is the future of the Naked Edge? We will give you a glimpse into the weird world of the Naked Edge.
