Overhang Rock Stewardship Event on Nov 2, 2019
The Flatirons Climbing Council (FCC) in conjunction with the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) and the Boulder Climbing Community (BCC) are celebrating the REEL Rock 14 Tour with a stewardship event on November 2, 2019. This event was initially scheduled for October, but had to be postponed due to high winds.
This workday will take place on Overhang Rock above Bear Canyon. Come join the community in making a difference on one of Boulder’s iconic climbing destinations. The day will consist of approaching the work site and working along side The North Face athletes, an OSMP crew and FCC members to delineate and construct a more direct approach through the talus to the base of the crag.
The workday will start at 8am at the NCAR public parking lot: 39.978355, -105.275190 and finish back at the lot at approximately 3pm. This work will be mostly off trail and require an ability to manage oneself on varied and steep terrain. OSMP will provide all tools, gloves and relevant PPE. Please make sure to wear long pants, closed-toed shoes and appropriate attire for the anticipated weather. Also, make sure to leave pets at home for their safety and the safety of others. Boulder OSMP will provide lunches for everyone. We suggest that everyone car pool as much as possible.
All minors need to be accompanied by a parent or an adult. Waivers for all participants will be provide the day of the event.
