I started climbing in 1980, while in high school in Arizona. In the early years, climbing took me all over Arizona and to major destinations such as Joshua Tree and Hueco Tanks. I eventually moved to Boulder in 1990 allowing me to climb all over Colorado, yet I have mostly fallen in love with the sandstone rock in the Flatirons. Notable Flatirons climbing accomplishments from the early 90’s include first female ascents of benchmark routes such as Power Bulge and Cornucopia as well as a first ascent called, Far Niente on the Green Hand. Today I continue to climb all over the Flatirons enjoying the old routes and the new sport routes being established. Being involved in the Flatirons Climbing Council is an honor and watching how climbing and access have grown significantly over the last decade, I find it necessary to preserve the beauty of the Flatirons and making sure we can keep it that way for all to enjoy.
