Japhy Dhungana is an American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) Certified Alpine and Rock Guide, AIARE Avalanche Course Leader, and holds a AAA Pro Level 2 Avalanche Certificate.  He speaks five languages, and always has a difficult time answering the question: “Where are you from?”  Raised in his native country of Nepal, he spent his childhood exploring the Himalayan range and dreaming of exploration and adventure in distant places like California and the Rocky Mountains.  Since moving to Boulder, CO in 2013, Japhy has made the Flatirons his home-crag: from projecting routes, to guiding clients on the iconic East Faces, to bouldering amidst the shadows of the ponderosas.  Japhy serves on the Fixed Hardware Review Committee (FHRC) and the FCC because he believes strongly in the ethic of a grassroots democracy in managing our climbing areas.  He holds a strong ethic on conservation, education, and sustainable practice for all mountain users.  In his free time, Japhy enjoys the kinship of community, the spirit of live music, the delight of good food, and the vitality of wild places.
