Trail Volunteer Day – Third Flatiron – Saturday, July 17

The Flatirons Climbing Council (FCC) in conjunction with the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) is conducting a volunteer trail project this month on Saturday, July 17.

The project will encompass building a new climber access trail to the South side of the Third Flatiron and adjacent climbing formations: W.C. Fields Pinnacle, Queen Anne’s Head and the the Ghetto bouldering area. Come join the community in making a difference in the Flatirons, one of Boulder’s iconic climbing destinations.  Volunteers will work along side the OSMP trail crew and FCC members to construct a climbing approach trail from the recently re-routed Royal Arch Trail.

We will meet at 8:00am at the Chautauqua Ranger Cottage to complete volunteer waiver forms, review safety guidelines and distribute lunch, snacks and FCC t-shirts. The work will be on talus and on the mountain side and requires an ability to manage oneself on varied and steep terrain. OSMP will provide all tools but we ask that you bring work gloves and eye protection. Please make sure to wear long pants, closed-toed shoes and appropriate attire for the anticipated weather. Please leave pets at home for their safety and the safety of others.
